PAID SOCIAL · THE YELL SOCIAL GLOSSARY

Return on ad spend (ROAS).

Attributed revenue divided by advertising spend. ROAS describes revenue relative to ad cost, but does not by itself account for production costs, margins, returns, or other expenses.

IN THE REAL WORLD

A simple example

A campaign attributes $900 in revenue to $300 of ad spend, giving a ROAS of 3×.

Put it into practice

Use consistent attribution rules and distinguish revenue efficiency from profit.
